So we found out this morning that California has a new official Marine Animal! Jerry Brown signed, yesterday I believe, that starting next year October 15th should be used to teach about leatherback conservation in California public schools! Guess this is good news for me and my venture to becoming a high school biology teacher and now working with a sea turtle conservation group! The reason for picking the leatherback as the turtle was because they make an amazing journey each year from Indonesia to the California coast to eat jellyfish. The "new" state flag looks pretty cool too haha.
